2010 Peru Vacation with Chicago/Drake friend Dana
2009 Mission Trip to Pampa Cangallo (near Ayacucho) This is in the Andes, basically halfway between Lima and Cusco, more or less. 11 hour bus ride, 3 hour 'combi' ride (small passenger van). Truly 'out there'. Another teacher, Katy Mejia, and I went with one of the guys on the cleaning staff at the school, Edwar. He wants to plant a Baptist church in this area (his parents were born in the area and he still has some family up there).It was the first time I had ever been somewhere where the people had never seen a white person. I had one girl ask where I was from and when I answered "the United States" she asked if that was a city.
